Deej Amago is a self-taught artist from the Philippines. Amago’s work is comprised of colored pencil and watercolor on 300 gsm watercolor paper. 

Amago has considered himself to be an artist from the age of 5. Coming from a catholic family in a socially conservative area, his practice of erotic art is considered a taboo. In The Philippines, queerness is not considered to be socially acceptable. Amago’s work has explored kink, sexuality, and intimacy, imbuing the composition with a sense of warmth and comfort, seemingly to break down the taboo of his personal life. 

In Amago’s Warmer series, he draws upon the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each composition is a fantasy of normalcy, in which seeking out a partner is something one can casually pursue without fear of becoming infected with a potentially deadly virus. In this exhibition, Amago fondly daydreams about when the bed was warm, and when the bed can be warm again.
