Botanicals and portrayals of the human form are staples of art history. Nudity, however, remains (or has become) a visual taboo. Community standards on social media strictly prohibit nearly every type of presentation of breasts and genitals. Queer artists, often rendering the human form, have been adversely affected by these strict guidelines. Meanwhile, nudity portrayed by long-dead artists is celebrated within institutions.

Nudes & Blooms celebrates both florals and nudity. By exhibiting the unclothed human body alongside subject matter as beautiful and innocuous as botanicals, we contribute to the normalization of the human form, and advocate for its visibility. Both subjects are part of our natural world. Our bodies, sexual or otherwise, exist in nature and are worthy of pubic consumption.
